Alexander Ovechkin scores his 700th NHL goal

Washington Capitals’ super star Alex Ovechkin scored his 700th NHL goal Saturday night, the 8th player to do so. Only Gretzky, Howe, Jagr, Hull Dionne, Esposito and Gartner reached this magic number before him.

The Russian winger scored the equalising 2-2 in the beginning of the third period after his team went down 2-0 against the Devils. It’s his 42nd goal of the season already, after just 60 games. He will look back to the game with mixed feelings, as his team ended up losing 3-2 after a late goal by Damons Seversen
