Atalanta took an enormous step towards the quarter final after they beat Valencia 4-1 in a spectacular match in Italy this Wednesday evening. Dutch midfielder Hans Hateboer had a game he’ll never forget, as he scored two goals for the Italian side.
Atalanta came up 1-0 after 15 minutes of playing. Alejandro Gomez crossed the ball to Hans Hateboer inside the box, who tapped the goal to the back of the net. Atalanta doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, after Josip Ilicic shot the ball in the top left corner inside of the box
Atalanta did not stop scoring after the break. Freuler added to the score with a finesse from outside of the box and Hateboer made the score 4-0 when he shot the ball past Jaume after a rush from the halfway line.
Valencia did get a goal back after Atalanta defender Palomino passed the ball straight into Valencia attacker Cheryshev’s feet, who finished the chance. The game ended in 4-1, which puts Atalanta in an excellent heading towards the second leg.
