Bayern Munich sent a statement to Leipzig, Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach by humiliating Hoffenheim in their own stadium, beating them 6-0. Der Rekordmeister will try to prolong the league title for the eight time in a row.
Bayern was all over Hoffenheim from the beginning. After just one minute of playing, Sergio Gnabry put Bayern 1-0 up. The forward shot the ball into goalkeeper with a scissor-kick, and the goalkeeper could only knee it into his own goal.
Just five minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead. This time through Kimmich, who hit the back of the net with a shot into the bottom right corner outside the box. 18-year-old Dutch wonderkid Zirkzee brought Bayern 3-0 up in the 15th minute. After a cross by Gnabry, Zirkzee controlled the ball and turned around the defender, before shooting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Coutinho made things worse for hoffenheim in the 33th minute. The Brazilian scored from a rebound after Zirkzee’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. Coutinho fired the ball in the top right corner. He scored again just after half time. Thomas Müller intercepted the ball close to the Hoffenheim box, and crossed the ball to Coutinho who finished with his right foot.
The final blow was given by Goretzka. Coutinho dribbled towards the goal and laid it off to Tolisso. Tolisso brought Goretzka through on goal with a pass and the German midfielder chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.
With this win, Bayern Munich is now four points clear from Leipzig and Dortmund. The former still has a game in hand, as they host Bayer Leverkusen this Sunday.
