Unlucky Chelsea loses against United at home

Martial opened the score at stamford bridge before half time with a header after a great cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who dribbled past Willian to cross the ball.

Zouma thought he equalised from a corner in the 56th minute, but the VAR controversely disallowed the goal because Azplicueta hit Williams after he got pushed from behind by Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, which was overlooked by the VAR.

Harry Maguire doubled the lead in the 66th minute. Bruno Fernandes crossed the ball to the Englishman from a corner who headed it past Caballero. Manchester United was lucky to even have Maguire on the field as he kicked Batshuayi while on the ground 45 minutes earlier.

Chelsea’s bad luck did not stop there, as the blues had another goal disallowed in the 76th minute. Giroud’s foot was just a tad bit offside when he scored a diving header.

With this win Manchester United remains in reach of a Champions League spot, as they close the gap between the number four Chelsea to three points. The gap between number five Tottenham is now two points, which will most likely secure a spot in next year’s edition of the Champions League if Manchester City are excluded for the European competitions the next two years.
