Manchester City is heading towards the Champions League clash against Real Madrid with a good mood, after they beat Leicester City, who are sitting in third, saturday night.
Leicester City headed into this match with a bad form, having won 2 of their 7 previous games. On top of that, Leicester could not play midfielder Wilfred Ndidi due to a knee injury.
Premier League topscorer Jamie Vardy had a chance to open the score in the first half. He was through on goal, with just Ederson infront of him. But unfortunately for him, his shot hit the post and the teams headed into half time with a nil-nil score.
The Citizens had a chance to score from the penalty spot in the second half, after Praet touched the ball with his arm inside of the box. Kasper Schmeichel saved Aguero’s shot however, and the score remained the same. Gabriel Jesus scored the game winning goal in the 80th minute, shooting the ball between Schmeichel’s legs after an assist by former Leicester player Mahrez.
With this win, Manchester City is now 7 points clear from number three Leicester. Manchester City is not certain to play Champions League next season however, as UEFA announced Manchester City would be banned from European football for two seasons.
