Hertha makes come back after going 3-0 down against Düsseldorf in the first half

The relegation between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC in Düsseldorf Friday night finished in a spectacular way. After Karaman helped the home team lead 3-0 in the first half with his brace, Fortuna Düsseldorf gave their lead away with an own goal and a penalty.

The home team could not wish for a better start. Kenan Karaman opened the score after just 5 minutes from inside the box, after a pass by Kevin Stöger. Erik Thommy doubled the score five minutes later, when he shot the ball in the top right corner from the leftside of the box. Karaman made things even worse for Hertha, when he brought the home team up 3-0 in injury time.

However, Hertha fought back for a point in the second half. Erik Thommy unluckily walked the ball in his own goal after a poor cross from Hertha BSC from the left flank. It took only two mintues for the away team to score their second goal after that. After a quick counter attack, Matheus Cunha shot the ball in the back of the net.

Hertha managed to go home with an important point after they equalised in the 75th minute. The referee awarded Hertha a penalty after Polish striker was being floored by the Düsseldorf goalkeeper. Piatek brought his team level from the penalty spot.

Düsseldorf will be disappointed with this result, as a win could have brought them out the relegation zone. The team from Düsseldorf is currently sitting in 16th, one point behind Mainz.
