Manchester City beat West Ham in the Etihad Wednesday evening. Belgian superstar Kevin De Bruyne helped the Citizens past West Ham United with a goal and an assist. The score ended 2-0 in favor of the home team.
The score was opened after 29 minutes, when midfielder Rodri headed the ball in the back of the net from a difficult position. Kevin de Bruyne gave the assist from a corner.
West Ham United proved to be no challenge for the reigning Premier League champions, as Manchester City had a ball possesion of 79% and 20 shots opposed to West Ham’s mere three shots. De Bruyne determined the score in the second half, when he scored from inside the box.
Manchester City is now four points clear from Leicester City, who is sitting in third position. Until a week ago, Manchester City was almost certain to qualify for next year’s edition of the Champions League. However, the UEFA ruled the Citizens out of any European competition for the next two years, including a big fine. The Man City fans protested the ban with banners and chants at the game against West Ham at the Etihad.
