Inzaghi’s Lazio Roma jumped to the top of the Serie A for the first time in 20 years after beating Bologna 2-0 at home. The team from the Italian capital are now two points clear from Juventus, who have one game in hand. Lazio Roma will stay at the top of the league for the rest of the weekend, as the match between Juventus and Inter Milan is postponed due to the corona virus.
The home team came up 1-0 in the 18th minute from a quick counter after Bologna lost posession on Lazio’s half. Correa sent Immobile away with a through ball. Immobile cut inside just outside the box and gave the ball to Luis Alberto. The Spaniard found the net with a shot in the bottom left corner from outside the box.
Lazio found the net from a counter again just three minutes later. Luis Alberto was important in this goal aswell, as he asissted Correa. The Argentinian scored from the right side of the box.
Bologna had a great chance to score the equaliser one minute before Correa’s goal. Soriana had a 100% chance to score, but he shot the ball straight at the keeper.
In the second half, Bologna thought they’d scored a goal back through defender Denswil, but the goal was disallowed due to a handball. Takehiro Tomiyasu’s goal was disallowed aswell, this time because of offside.
Lazio are now the Serie A leaders. Inzaghi’s side is two points clear from Juventus, who have one game in hand and eight points clear from Inter Milan who still have two games to catch up. It would be the first time in nine years that a team other than Juventus wins the Scudetto. The last time Lazio won the Serie A was in the year 2000.
