Klopp’s Liverpool has finally lost their first match of the season. After 28 games in the Premier League, Liverpool took their first loss in an embarrassing 3-0 loss against relegation candidate Watford.
Ismaïla Sarr was the star on Watford’s side. He opened the score in the second half. After poor coverage from Virgil van Dijk, Doucoure laid the ball to Sarr who put it past Alisson. Virgil van Dijk was looking poor again when he let Deeney’s pass go through his legs, sending Sarr through on goal. The Senegalese finished the chance with a wonderful chip over the goalkeeper.
Things got worse for Liverpool in the 72nd minute. After Trent Alexander Arnold passed a horrible pass back to Alisson, Barr got between the Arnold and the keeper and intercepted the ball. He drew Alisson out of his goal and laid the ball off to Deeney, who shot the ball into the empty goal.
With this loss, Liverpool’s invincible season comes to an end. It is not likely that Liverpool will worry too much though, as they are still 22 points clear from Manchester City. For Watford, on the other hand, this win is a very important one. Watford jumped over Bournemouth and Aston Villa and are now out of the relegation zone. The battle against relegation is bound to become a thrilling one, as Westham, Borunemouth and Watford all have 27 points.
