Team Lebron wins All-Star Game; tributes for Kobe

Anthony Davis made the game winning free throw in the All-Star Game between Team Lebron and Team Giannis in Chicago that ended in 157-155. The game was dominated by tributes for 4-time All-Star MVP winner Kobe Bryant. The NBA announced that the award would be re-named after Kobe after he died in a helicopter crash in California last month.

LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson gave a speech to honor Kobe before the game. “We’ll never see another basketball player quite like Kobe” Johnson said. “Scoring 81 points in one game, scoring 60 points in his last game. And then winning five NBA championships”

“But what I’m really proud about when we think about Kobe Bryant, there’s millions of people in Los Angeles that don’t have a home. Kobe was fighting to get them homes and shelter every single day. He was passionate about that. He was also passionate about being a great father, husband, filmmaker. Young man won an Oscar. So we all are hurting. This is a tough time for the whole NBA family.”

The players honored Kobe and his daughter Gianna by only wearing #24 and #2 on their jerseys, the former being the legendary number Kobe Bryant wore in his only NBA MVP award winning season, and the latter being the number Kobe’s daughter wore, who passed away in the same helicopter crash as her father.

The format of the game was changed to honor Kobe Bryant aswell. After the score was 133-124 in favor of team Giannis at the end of the third quarter, the game was a race to 157 points in the fourth quarter, which is 24 points more than the team leading after the third quarter.
